Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineer to join our Pavement Team within the Operations Directorate in the South East Region. Working alongside other professional engineers, you will lead the development and delivery of a wide range of pavement renewal schemes, ensuring that the strategic road network safely meets the requirements of our customers now and into the future.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure the health and safety needs and wellbeing of customers and employees are fully considered throughout the planning and delivery of each service activity.
* Support the identification and management of asset studies and survey works, including prioritisation of needs to keep assets in serviceable condition.
* Conduct and lead the development of early solutions for renewals and/or improvements, including compiling and checking relevant documents, evidence and options for value management, exploring new techniques, materials, buildability, and costs.
* Develop technical briefs for design and construction contractors.
* Provide technical support to Project Managers by assisting with materials approvals, vetting contractors' compliance, inspection support on site, and reviewing Health and Safety Files.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree or HND in a relevant discipline and appropriate experience, or equivalent.
* Knowledge of asset condition assessment and degradation modelling.
* Good knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application on the highway network.
* Experience in highway infrastructure design, construction and delivery methods.
* Good knowledge of CDM 2015.
* Full clean UK driving licence (must drive as part of the role).
Working Conditions
Flexible working; role available from either Maidstone or Basingstoke office. Time may require travel between offices and partner sites. Some work during unsociable hours may be required.
Compensation
External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
