We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will work in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same.
You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts and coordinating a team to deliver a clean and well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
Since the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will constantly seek ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback.
You will have a strong understanding of your store's performance and be a specialist in delivering practical actions for its improvement through a hands-on approach.
With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community.
2. Open and close the store, complete duty cover, and make decisions prioritizing customers, colleagues, and safety.
3. Serve as the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for daily operational queries.
4. Support the Store Manager in organizing seasonal, community, and charity events to foster an inclusive atmosphere.
5. Ensure the store is clean, tidy, and well-presented.
6. Prioritize replenishment of products important to our customers.
7. Ensure point of sale and shelf labels are accurate and reflect quality standards.
8. Address overcharges immediately and prevent reoccurrences.
9. Manage queues proactively to enhance the shopping experience.
10. Coordinate colleagues to meet daily priorities and manage breaks efficiently.
11. Maintain knowledge about the store to implement practical improvements.
12. Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same.
13. Communicate effectively with the team to keep them informed.
14. Share ideas to simplify operations with the Store Manager.
15. Always prioritize the customer and tailor service to meet their needs.
16. Resolve customer queries promptly, leaving them satisfied.
17. Recognize and celebrate colleagues who deliver excellent service.
18. Identify and remove obstacles to delivering great service.
19. Resolve colleague queries in the absence of the Store Manager or escalate as needed.
20. Ensure proper staffing, covering shifts during absences or sickness.
21. Act as a Keyholder, attending alarm call-outs to ensure safety and security.
22. Monitor and act on internal communications promptly.
23. Coordinate colleagues to meet customer and operational needs, reporting issues to the Store Manager.
24. Balance time across service and replenishment areas.
25. Support the Store Manager in managing store absence, conducting return-to-work interviews, and reporting absences following company policies.
26. Build relationships with Area Managers and People Partners, escalating issues timely and seeking coaching opportunities.
27. If the store has a Post Office Local, duties include managing daily operations of the post office, which requires passing a background check for the Post Office Financial and criminal conviction checks. Failure to pass these checks will result in withdrawal of the job offer.
