We’re recruiting an Executive Head Chef to lead a prestigious independent boarding school in Surrey. This is a standout opportunity to oversee a high-volume, high-quality education catering operation, delivering daily feeding alongside premium hospitality within a stunning campus setting.
The Executive Head Chef will lead a well-structured kitchen team, driving food quality, consistency and innovation across both student dining and a growing hospitality offer. If you’re a strong, experienced Executive Chef with independent school experience, this is a fantastic leadership opportunity in Surrey.
The offer
1. £52,000 per annum
2. 52-week contract
3. Typical hours 6:30am – 3:00pm (latest finish around 7:00pm)
4. Time off in lieu for additional hours

The operation & food
7. Independent senior boarding school (Years 7–13).
8. Feeding approximately 1,000 students daily.
9. Monday–Thursday full boarding operation.
10. Friday no supper service, Saturday sports hospitality.
11. Hospitality revenue of £400k–£500k per year.
12. High-quality, hotel-style hospitality and events.
13. Beautiful, listed dining room with modern kitchen facilities.
14. New Sixth Form development launching next year.
The role
15. Lead the full kitchen operation as Executive Head Chef.
16. Manage and develop a team of 9 chefs and 4–5 Kitchen Porters.
17. Oversee the Head Chef and ensure strong daily delivery.
18. Drive food quality across student dining and hospitality.
19. Plan, innovate and deliver within structured school menus.
20. Manage budgets, GP, stock and operational performance.
21. Lead on recruitment, training and team development.
22. Ensure full compliance with food safety and HSE standards.
