Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Littlehampton
Salary: GBP93:GBP100 per day (12:week placement)
Permanent Salary: GBP22,000:GBP23,500 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:15 AM : 3:30 PM

Following a successful 12:week placement, there is the opportunity to move into a permanent role within the team.

About the Setting
Join a specialist Pupil Referral Unit in Littlehampton supporting primary and secondary:aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The setting provides a structured, safe, and nurturing environment for pupils who have struggled to access mainstream education. With a strong focus on emotional regulation, behaviour support, and personalised learning, the aim is to help students re:engage with education and rebuild confidence. Through small group learning, consistent routines, and a highly supportive staff team, pupils are encouraged to develop resilience, improve social skills, and achieve meaningful educational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide consistent support to pupils with SEMH needs, helping them regulate emotions and engage positively in learning.
* Use effective strategies to support positive behaviour, de:escalate situations, and promote emotional regulation.
* Work closely with teachers and support staff to deliver tailored learning approaches and maintain engagement.
* Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support their emotional wellbeing and educational progress.

Requirements

* Experience working with children or young people in education, PRU, alternative provision, youth work, care, or similar SEMH:focused environments.
* GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) are required.
* Calm, patient, resilient, and committed to supporting vulnerable young people with complex needs.
* Strong communication skills, ability to work as part of a team, and confidence in managing challenging behaviour in a positive and consistent way.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and commitment to maintaining a safe, structured learning environment
