DESCRIPTION:
We are a private 'Outstanding' residential care home for the elderly in Walton-On-The Hill. We are looking for a reliable conscientious and enthusiastic Housekeeping Team Assistant.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS
· Experience preferred
· To have good spoken and written English skills
· To be physically and mentally able to complete expected duties
· To be kind, caring and compassionate at all times.
ACCOUNTABLE AND REPORTING TO
* The Registered Owner and Registered Manager
OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE OF THE JOB
* To work as part of the team to maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness
* To assist with providing a high quality service for residents, families and friends, all other visitors and colleagues
* To deliver the manager's cleaning schedule for the home, ensuring that appropriate cleaning materials and equipment are used correctly
* To report changes or concerns to the housekeeping supervisor or senior member of staff on duty
* To work within the company's policies and procedures and the guidelines found in the company handbook
* To adhere to the Fundamental Standards as set out by the Care Quality Commission in relation to the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (regulated activities) Regulations 2014 and the Care Quality Commission's (Registration) Regulations 2009
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
* To adhere to regulations regarding 'Duty of Candour', ensuring that you are open, honest and transparent in all accidents and incidents
* Report both verbally and in writing on the general condition and cleanliness of the building
* Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents and staff
* Protect the residents' rights
* Adhere to safeguarding procedures at all times and follow the whistle blowing procedure if necessary
* To promote equality and diversity in all aspects of the work environment in line with the Equality Act 2010
* To work in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
* Respect the residents' privacy at all times
* Promote independence, choice and dignity of residents
* Respect and ensure the safety of the residents' personal belongings
* Assist residents in maintaining their domestic hygiene in their own rooms
* To carry out general housekeeping duties on a daily basis as directed by the housekeeping supervisor
* To carry out a full deep clean of rooms and other areas as directed
* To ensure that all cleaning schedule records are completed by the end of each shift
* To understand and be prepared to work in all areas of housekeeping duties
* To cover other members of the housekeeping team in the event of holiday or sickness
* To maintain a neat, tidy and professional appearance
* Be punctual and reliable

· Listen and respond to residents, families, friends, other visitors and colleagues appropriately and in a positive manner
· To act in a professional manner and be courteous at all times
· To respect confidentiality and consent
· Report concerns directly to the housekeeping supervisor or senior member of staff on duty
HEALTH AND SAFETY
· To follow the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and co-operate with your employers regarding health and safety
· Report any accidents and incidents to the Matron or senior member of staff on duty
· Report to Matron if you feel the work or inadequate precautions are putting anyone's health and safety at risk
CONTINUING DEVELOPMENT
· To undertake all compliance training
· To complete competencies relevant to your job role
· To participate in additional continual professional development opportunities when appropriate, in order to maintain and develop skills
· To participate in the appraisal system operated within the company
VARIATION AND AMENDMENT
* This is a description of the job as it is at present. Changes to the job description may become necessary and where possible, it is the company's aim to reach agreement to reasonable change. However, management reserves the right to make changes in the best interests of the home where necessary.
