Job Overview
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to join the South Cumbria Community Therapy Team, working across intermediate care beds and community therapy as part of a newly integrated community therapy team. The post holder will manage the deployment and supervision of the integrated therapy team within the Furness area, working closely with GP practices, Adult Social Care, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and hospital discharge teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess and treat patients with respiratory, mobility, neurological, orthopaedic, and long‑term conditions across an 18‑bedded intermediate care unit and community settings.
* Lead clinical service development, align practice with national guidelines, and deliver training to enhance the skill set of therapists, support staff, students and the wider multidisciplinary team.
* Communicate with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate patient flow, discharge planning and coordination of community services.
* Manage the Occupational Therapy team, handling absence, completing annual appraisals, and supporting staff development.
* Promote innovation, integrated working, and patient‑centred care while upholding best practice and evidence‑based standards.
Required Qualifications and Experience
* Full Clinical and Professional registration as an Occupational Therapist.
* Advanced clinical skills in respiratory, mobility and neurological assessment and treatment, with the ability to manage complex patients holistically.
* Demonstrated clinical leadership in service development and staff training.
* Strong communication, empathy, teamwork and initiative skills.
* Experience working within intermediate care or community service settings preferred.
