Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join the Waiting List department as a Clerical Officer. The role provides clerical support to the department, including producing and sending out standard letters, scanning, retrieving files, ordering stock and supplies, and inputting data into computerised databases. Reception duties include maintaining appointment systems and handling general enquiries from patients, staff, and visitors.
Requirements: Educated to GCSE level, including Maths and English at grade C or above, or equivalent qualifications/experience, and computer literacy skills to RSA2, NVQ 2 or equivalent level. Personal attributes include self‑discipline, motivation, empathy, teamwork, prioritisation, flexibility, and solid communication skills.

Main Duties
* Routine typing of standard appointment/DNA/cancellation letters
* Creating patient files
* Photocopying and scanning
* Inputting data into computerised databases
* Reception duties such as answering telephone calls
* Receiving general enquiries from patients, staff, and visitors
The successful candidate will need excellent communication and organisational skills and be comfortable working within a busy and demanding environment.
Contract and Salary
Fixed‑term contract – 12 months – Part‑time – Band 2 – £24,465 a year pro rata (Agenda for Change pay scheme).
Person Specification
Essential
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent (Maths and English at C or above)

* Able to organise and prioritise own workload
* Possess sound communication skills
* Ability to function effectively as part of a team
Desirable
* Previous office or administrative experience in an NHS environment
