We are currently recruiting for a Development Machinist within Low Volume Manufacturing working a 3 shift pattern (6am - 2pm, 2pm - 10pm & 10pm - 6am). The purpose of the role is to provide additional programming, setting and operating resource to support the increased production demand of specials and low volume production parts.
Responsibilities
* Setting / Operating CNC machines (Milling or Turning) to the standard set and run times
* Interpret drawings and use initiative in deciding tooling selection and the method of manufacture
* Monitor the quality of components using a wide range of equipment including CMM inspection and complete departmental quality documentation
* Generate new component part programmes with the aid of Gibbs CAM programming software and subsequent prove out of new processes
Key requirements
* Applicants must have served an apprenticeship and have expertise in using a variety of CNC machine tools, including milling or turning
* A sound knowledge of manufacturing methodology to ensure that new processes are both capable and efficient
* Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills
* Good PC skills are essential
Desirable requirements
* A comprehensive knowledge of CNC machining with some programming knowledge
* Experience using a variety of inspection methods including CMMs
* Expertise in the use of GibbsCam software would be desirable although full training will be provided for successful applicants
