Specialist Nurse Children’s Respiratory

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and highly dynamic Paediatric nurse to join our respiratory specialist nursing team. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and will be expected to provide high levels of care to the child/adolescent and family. Experience in nursing children with medical conditions is preferable. Experience at band 6 is required.
Responsibilities
* Work between Kings Mill Hospital and Newark.
* Manage a cohort of asthma patients in nurse-led and consultant clinics, performing spirometry and FENO testing, and developing and monitoring asthma plans.
* Perform audit and research tasks, assist in leading a small team, participate in network meetings, and provide education to medical and nursing staff within the unit to improve quality and enhance care delivery.
* Deliver patient assessment, planning and implementing specialist care, and providing advice, support, and education in collaboration with the wider MDT, including child protection/safeguarding teams.
* Support colleagues at Nottingham University Hospital to ensure support and guidance for children local to Sherwood Forest Hospitals in managing their needs around cystic fibrosis.

Knowledge Requirements
* Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
* Specialist knowledge of Respiratory medicine
* Research awareness
* Knowledge and understanding of child protection policies and procedures
* Understanding of audit and research
* Counselling skills
* Experience of management of case loads and running nurse-led clinics
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (1st level) with RSCN/RN (child) – degree level or above
* Experience within paediatric respiratory disease
* Teaching qualification in asthma and allergy. Accredited at least 20 credits at first degree level, or equivalent
* Evidence of post-basic respiratory education
* Masters – working towards

* Flexibility to cover the service, if clinics running late working outside office hours
* Working at KMH and Newark Hospital with clinics
