Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer Location: Wrexham
Salary: £52,000 per annum
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off (2 Days, 2 Nights)
About the Company We are a leading food manufacturing business based in Wrexham, producing high-quality products for major retailers and food service partners. Due to continued growth and investment, we are seeking a talented Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team.
Role Overview As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving a wide range of production machinery and site services within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. You will work closely with operations to minimise downtime, ensure equipment reliability, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on production equipment, packaging machinery, and site utilities.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, ensuring safe and efficient resolution.
Support breakdown recovery to minimise production downtime.
Assist with installation, commissioning, and modification of new equipment.
Work to food industry compliance standards including hygiene, safety, and audit requirements.
Complete maintenance documentation and ensure accurate record-keeping.
Contribute to continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
Collaborate with other departments to support smooth factory operation.
Skills & Experience Required Time-served engineer with relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent in Engineering).
Multi-skilled with both electrical and mechanical competency (e.g., motors, conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLC fault-finding).
Experience within food manufacturing, FMCG, or a similar fast-paced production environment.
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team under pressure.
Understanding of health & safety, food safety, and engineering best practice.
