Overview
We have a fantastic opportunity to provide support to children and families in the Child Care Assessment Team within the Social Services and Housing directorate.
The Child Care Assessment Team is a statutory team that undertakes child protection and family support work under the remit of the Social Services and Well Being Act (Wales) Act 2014 and related codes of practice.
Responsibilities
* Undertake simple assessments to identify children\'s needs and determine if needs can be met through information, advice and assistance.
* Liaise with other professionals and develop a plan for the family, referring to appropriate services and undertaking direct work with the child/ren/young person.
* Be part of a duty rota, supporting management with signposting families, making enquiries, handling calls from the public and professionals, receiving referrals, and ensuring they are entered onto the Eclipse system and completed as directed by Managers.
* Work closely with social workers to ensure appropriate support is provided to children and families; co-work with social workers and undertake tasks assigned by the social worker.
* Receive regular supervision (including informal supervision) to discuss assessments and work, and receive guidance and advice.
* Contribute to a supportive working structure across the social care teams and take opportunities for personal development and further training.
Qualifications & Experience
* Five GCSEs Grade C or equivalent, and previous experience of working with children and families.
* An NVQ3 or above in Social Care or equivalent is favourable.
* Welsh language skills are desirable; applications may be submitted in Welsh and will not be treated less favourably than English applications.
