Job Summary
This senior leadership role requires a qualified systemic family psychotherapist to provide clinical and professional leadership across Barnet CAMHS, based at Oak Lane Clinic (East Finchley) and Edgware Community Hospital. The post involves guiding systemic therapy practice, supervision, training, and service development within the multidisciplinary 0‑18 mental health service.

Contract & Salary
Permanent, full‑time. Band 8B. Salary range £72,719 to £83,505 per annum including HCAS.
Responsibilities
* Lead and develop systemic family therapy pathways across the borough.
* Provide appraisals, supervision and clinical support to systemic family therapists.
* Facilitate discipline meetings and contribute to term‑ly CPD programmes in partnership with Trust‑wide systemic leads.
* Deliver and support reflective practice grounded in trauma‑informed care principles.
* Oversee family therapy clinics and student placement clinics in collaboration with the Tavistock and IFT.
* Contribute to clinical governance, service development, quality improvement, audits and research.
* Develop and deliver training aligned with systemic practice and specialist areas.
* Shape policy and service development locally and across Trust‑wide CAMHS forums.
* Work autonomously within professional guidelines while collaborating closely with the Barnet CAMHS Clinical Lead, Generic Team Manager and Senior Leadership Team.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Professional qualification in a mental health or social welfare discipline or an equivalent Association of Family Therapy (AFT) qualification.
* Four‑year AFT‑recognised training leading to a qualification in systemic psychotherapy/family therapy.
* UKCP registration (Systemic) and specialist training that has led to approved clinical supervisor status.
* Minimum four years of practice in the relevant first profession and at least three years of experience as a qualified systemic family psychotherapist.
* Experience in specialist systemic assessment, formulation and intervention with individuals and families.
* Proven ability to work professionally with highly emotive and distressing client presentations, including verbal and physical abuse risk.
* Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for systemic care and treatment within a multidisciplinary care plan.
* Experience working in multi‑disciplinary teams and with a range of childhood disorders in acute and chronic stages.
* Experience of self‑harm assessment and intervention with individuals and families, and risk assessment.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* Training in teaching systemic psychotherapy and post‑qualification training in additional specialised therapeutic areas.
* Management training or experience.
* Experience teaching, training and supervising, especially across diverse cultural contexts.
* Experience developing services and applying systemic psychotherapy in varied community settings.
* Advanced skills in professional supervision meeting UKCP requirements.
Knowledge & Skills
* Advanced knowledge of child development, mental health issues and systemic theories.
* Proficiency in complex psychological assessment, intervention and management methods.
* Strong communication skills – oral and written – including delivery of technical and sensitive information to clients, families and professionals.
* Ability to provide consultation to other professional groups and supervise multi‑disciplinary colleagues.
* Advanced multi‑tasking and managing complex clinical contexts using screening, video equipment and multi‑professional teamwork.
* Up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legislation, ethical issues and strategic frameworks, including the Children Act 1989.
* Experience working with racially and culturally diverse communities.
