Aureos are seeking E+P Principal, E+P Senior and E+P Design Engineers to join our existing team at Preston Brook.
The Engineer will be responsible for leading, creating, preparing, modifying or contributing to designs or arranging for, or instructing others to do such work.
The appointed person within the design organisation with accountability for the day-to-day management and co-ordination of the technical and engineering activities within a specific engineering discipline for a specific CR-T.
A key role within a project with overall accountability for all engineering activities. Will provide the Project Manager and project team with engineering integration/guidance and support to enable project compliance.
Primary tasks and duties
The tasks/duties below are indicative of the works required (not exhaustive)
* Undertake/ lead engineering in accordance with the quality management system, to meet agreed programmes and budgets.
* Undertake engineering in accordance with appropriate International and National Standards.
* Act as Checker and Approver as appropriate.
* Ensure that the Company Design Assurance is applied to all allocated projects.
* Assist in the determination of the design scope and the subsequent preparation of the valuation of design elements as part of the tendering process.
* Undertake in site surveys.
* Leadership and management of the team of engineers and technicians, in the production of design calculations and drawings.
* Maintain coordination of feasibility studies, together with outline and detailed design proposals.
* Approving the work of design engineers and CAD technicians.
* Manage the interfacing of allocated Design Team(s) with Construction and Commissioning Team(s) where relevant to allocated design & construct projects.
* Assist in maintaining Design Procedures to ensure they meet the company’s quality and environmental procedures and current best engineering practice.
* Undertake the role Contractor’s Responsible Engineer as required.
* Undertake the role Contractor’s Engineering Manager as required.
Qualifications and Training (subject to role applied for)
Essential:
* Qualified in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent. –10+ years proven railway electrification experience (15+ years if not Chartered) for Principal level.
* 5+ years proven railway electrification experience (10+ years if not Chartered) for Senior level.
* 4+ years of post-graduation proven electrification experience for Engineer level.
* Demonstrate application of, and compliance to Engineering Assurance processes and requirements that relate specifically to the discipline for which they are being appointed.
* Certification in CDM Regulations 2015 with a sound understanding of specifically the designers and client’s requirements.
* Valid UK Driving Licence.
* General overall competence in design as detailed in relevant standards.
* Able to demonstrate they meet the performance and knowledge requirements of a lead engineer.
* Experience of reviewing works to ensure discipline technical requirements are met and relevant discipline standards are complied with e.g. Discipline CR-Ts.
* Understanding of different engineering disciplines and the relationships and interdependencies between them with participation in all Interdisciplinary Coordination activities.
* Shall have a sound understanding of the Risk Assessment process.
* Knowledge of relevant International and National engineering standards.
* Understanding of safety, quality, and environmental issues, with the ability to judge when urgent or immediate action is necessary for safety reasons.
* Able to demonstrate discipline specific technical capabilities in line with an approved framework for that discipline.
* Experience in the generation of Technical Queries (TQN) and Requests for information (RFI), Early Warning Notices (EWN) and contract variations.
* Experience in Commercial and Design process.
* Possess good leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
* Ability to direct technical resource and labour as required.
* Ability to monitor compliance of delivery.
* Ability to plan resources to meet programme dates and budget i.e. monitor and report own hours and that underneath.
* Ability to implement practises to meet technical requirements.
* Time management.
* Experienced in management of design and CAD engineers and teams.
* Ability to read contract requirements and implement the technical requirements specified therein.
* Advanced Office 365 specifically Excel.
* Proven ability to prepare engineering documentation.
* Experience in using CAD and CDE software.
Desirable:
* CEng status within relevant Engineering Council Approved Body (IMechE, ICE, IET, PWI).
* Ability with discipline specific software tools
