We are excited to offer a Permanent Plumber position to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account at HMP Cardiff, Knox Rd, Cardiff CF24 0UG. The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week.
At Amey, we support our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), by providing safe, clean and efficient prisons. We help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly through our facilities management expertise.
Responsibilities
* Plumbers play an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.
* Ensuring Health & Safety standards are met across the contract.
* Performing statutory works on time, ensuring compliance.
* Conducting routine and non-routine maintenance, including fault finding and repairs.
* Inspecting, sampling water, and assessing risks to maintain system integrity.
* Repairing mains water supply and addressing life-expired equipment.
* Monitoring the BMS System to ensure optimal performance.
* Supporting zero carbon initiatives, contributing to sustainability goals.
* Handling additional tasks as directed by your line manager, including working at height and in various weather conditions.
What makes this role unique
You will ensure all works are carried out to the highest safety standards and to the agreed method statements. Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).
Qualifications and experience
* Appropriate Trade qualification (Level 3)
* Experience in operating light plant
* Ideally NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating with experience in plumbing maintenance
* We may consider applicants with NVQ Level 2
* Desirable: Legionella Control (L8) and experience in a commercial environment; not essential as development will be provided
