SEMH Teaching Assistant / HLTAAre you passionate about making a real difference to childrens lives?We are looking for caring and resilient Teaching Assistants to support pupils with SEMH needs in a specialist primary education provision, using SEN support, behaviour management, pastoral care and learning development skills to help children thrive.If youve also worked in the following roles, wed also like to hear from you: Teaching Support Assistant, Learning Mentor, SEN Support Assistant, Pastoral Support Assistant, Higher Level Teaching AssistantMULTIPLE POSITIONS AVAILABLEWere looking for H2 to H5 Teaching AssistantsSALARY: £24,796 to £29,540 per annum (H2-H5 dependent on experience) + BenefitsLOCATION: Berkhamsted, HertfordshireJOB TYPE: Full-Time, PermanentWORKING HOURS: Term-time onlyJOB OVERVIEWWe have a fantastic new job opportunity for a SEMH Teaching Assistant / HLTA to join a newly established Social, Emotional and Mental Health Unit within a supportive mainstream primary school.As a SEMH Teaching Assistant / HLTA you will work with a specialist team supporting up to 12 pupils with personalised learning, planned integration into mainstream classes, classroom management and emotional wellbeing support.The SEMH Teaching Assistant / HLTA will provide 1:1 and small group support, deliver interventions, promote positive behaviour and help pupils build confidence, independence and resilience.DUTIESYour duties as the SEMH Teaching Assistant / HLTA include:Learning Support: Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs in the Unit and mainstream classesInterventions: Deliver tailored activities that support engagement, progress and confidenceBehaviour Support: Help implement behaviour plans, EHCP targets and strategies that promote self-esteem and independencePersonal Care: Support pupils with toileting, hygiene, dressing, eating, welfare and health matters where requiredProgress Monitoring: Record achievements, share feedback with teachers and contribute to pupil recordsPartnership Working: Communicate effectively with teachers, families, therapists and external professionalsTeaching Assistant Duties: Arrange resources, support planned activities, assist with supervision, visits and basic ICTHLTA Duties: Plan, prepare, deliver and adapt structured learning for individuals, groups and classesHLTA Support: Assess, record and report progress, contribute to individual development plans and liaise with external agenciesHLTA Leadership: Provide specialist advice and supervise or support other classroom staff when requiredCANDIDATE REQUIREMENTSESSENTIALSEMH Support: Experience supporting primary age children, pupils with SEND or pupils with additional support needsBehaviour Management: Calm, patient and confident approach to supporting challenging behaviour and emotional barriers to learningCommunication: Strong ability to build trusting relationships and exchange information clearly with staff and parents / carersSafeguarding: Awareness of child protection, confidentiality, health and safety and safe working practicesTeamwork: Ability to work collaboratively and adapt support to individual learning needsTeaching Assistant Level: Working at or towards Level 2 NVQ, Certificate or equivalent in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or willingness to trainHLTA Level: Knowledge equivalent to NVQ Level 3 with specialist expertise, or working knowledge of HLTA standardsDESIRABLELearning Activities: Ability to support, lead or contribute to planning and evaluation of learning activitiesSpecialist Support: Understanding of SEN, SEMH, pastoral care, therapy or care programmes and personalised learningHLTA Planning: Ability to plan, prepare and deliver structured learning activities to individuals, groups and classesStaff Support: Experience demonstrating duties to new colleagues or providing day-to-day support to classroom staffWHY JOIN?Be part of a newly established SEMH provision within a supportive mainstream schoolMake a meaningful impact every daySupportive leadership and professional team environmentOpportunities to develop specialist skillsAPPLY TODAYBy submitting your job application to us you are hereby giving us your express consent to submit your details to our Client for this purpose.JOB REF: AWDO-P14821Full-Time, Permanent Education Jobs, Careers and Vacancies.
