Fleet Engineer Ardrossan & Arran
Competitive Salary
Fancy leading a team of engineers who maintain and repair a diverse fleet of vehicles, as well as managing plant and buildings?
And what if you could develop your engineering team to enhance their skills, passing on all of your technical knowledge to both experienced technicians and eager-to-learn apprentices alike?
People management won’t be completely new to you. You don’t have to be an existing Fleet Engineer, but you’ll need to be able to evidence of how you’ve managed teams, irrespective of their size. Working together with our operational teams to ensure excellent service delivery will be second nature.
Well, if that sounds interesting, we’re looking for an experienced engineer to join and lead our engineering team at our Ardrossan & Arran depots based in West Scotland. You’ll be leading a dedicated team of engineers who maintain and repair a modern and varied fleet of over 40 vehicles so our fantastic customers can travel safely and comfortably every day to healthcare and employment, to shopping and leisure, and to see friends and family.
We’ve big plans and are looking for someone to help us deliver them. We are already introducing a fleet of Electric Vehicles into the area. We are looking for someone who is friendly, flexible, reliable and takes pride in their work. It’s a really important role within our depot, so we’ll trust you to ensure vehicles are presented to the high standards that our customers want – and thus you’ll have autonomy over resource management, stock and people. It goes without saying we’ll give you support, training and development wherever you need to be a brilliant Fleet Engineer.
Aside from the satisfaction of being a key worker in your community, there’s loads of reasons for you to join the Stagecoach West Scotland team...
1. Great benefits - including a generous company pension scheme, 33 days holiday, free travel for you and a companion, free financial education and affordable loans and a range of money-saving opportunities including discounts on holidays and retail, cinema outings, dental insurance, vehicle breakdown cover and hotels and attractions. We also have an employee assistance programme to support health and wellbeing through a confidential service available 24 hours a day, which provides specialist guidance and assistance on a range of personal and work-related issues, from dealing with stress and anxiety to managing financial, marital or legal issues.
2. Training - a dedicated high level training programme to reinforce your existing skills and give an opportunity to progress your career further.
3. Varied work - interestingly it’s not all depot-based work...you could well find yourself out and about dealing with vehicle issues on the road, so it won’t always be the same four walls you’re looking at. And as one of the UK’s leading transport operators we’re investing heavily in electric vehicles and depot infrastructure, so there’s plenty to keep you interested.
4. Plenty of job security - from being a key worker at the heart of our communities, where we always need great people servicing our fleet of vehicles, be they Alexander Dennis, Scania, Volvo or Optare.
5. Secondment opportunities to work elsewhere in the business - either on big events like Silverstone and Cheltenham Festival, or into our head office support functions.
6. A great working environment with loads of opportunity to make new friends from a bunch of great workmates, managers who work hard to create great places to work, and employee networks building inclusive environments for women, veterans, carers, multicultural and LGBTQ+ colleagues.
The recruitment process is simple – you apply with your CV, we’ll have a good read then get you in for an interview and give you a tour of the depot, and that’s it!
Sound good? Let’s get the wheels in motion!
