Offer description

Join the exciting journey of one of the UK's largest nuclear projects at Sizewell C! We are seeking a Technical Lead to take charge of a talented team of engineers and surveyors, driving the successful delivery of complex stainless-steel pools, tanks, liners, sumps, and bespoke embedded components.

The Civil Works Alliance (CWA), appointed by the Sizewell C client, unites three industry-leading contractors — Laing O'Rourke, Bouygues, and Balfour Beatty — to deliver the full civils scope, including Enabling Earthworks, Main Civil Works, and Marine and Tunnelling.

Key Responsibilities

* Take full ownership of all engineering activities related to the Contractor's Design (excluding permanent design) and fabrication of required components throughout the project lifecycle.
* Select, manage, and coordinate Tier 2 subcontractors to ensure smooth fabrication and delivery processes.
* Oversee delivery and on-site commissioning of stainless-steel pools, tanks, liners, sumps, and special embedded parts in line with project timelines and requirements.
* Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure compliance with customer drawings, specifications, and regulatory standards.
* Produce and maintain all necessary technical documentation to support the delivery and commissioning of components.
* Identify, govern, and manage resolution of technical issues, queries, and non-conformances, collaborating closely with the Responsible Designer and other stakeholders.
* Ensure timely resolution of technical challenges to prevent any impact on the overall project programme.
* Manage Temporary Works, Welding, Fabrication, and Surveying activities within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
* Maintain strict adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory requirements throughout all engineering and fabrication processes.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

* Proven experience in the design, manufacture, assembly, and installation of large-scale stainless-steel fabrications.
* Experience working on nuclear construction sites, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and health & safety standards.
* Familiarity with EPR design principles and operating within the framework of an NEC-type contract.
* Skilled in writing, managing, and reviewing technical documentation and design drawings.
* Demonstrated leadership experience managing a team of engineers to successfully deliver projects in line with requirements.
* Ability to manage technical queries effectively and collaborate with customers to resolve issues.
* Proficiency in Navisworks and other 3D engineering and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software packages.
* Strong engineering expertise with a hands-on approach.
* Excellent communication skills, capable of liaising with all levels of stakeholders.
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.

Why join us?

This is your chance to contribute to one of the UK's most ambitious infrastructure projects, shaping the future of energy while working in a supportive, dynamic environment.
