Overview
Join to apply for the Governance volunteers - Trustees/Company Secretary role at Great Western Air Ambulance Charity
Great Western Air Ambulance Charity saves lives in our communities, and we are looking for a Governance volunteer to join our board to help us be there for everyone.
What difference will you make?
Great Western Air Ambulance Charity already achieves a lot. We are dispatched to over 2,000 patients a year who need our help due to serious illness or injury. We train around 10,000 people in CPR each year. We place dozens of publicly accessible defibrillators with the help of local communities. We provide training for land ambulance crew, and train the next generation of Critical Care Doctors and Paramedics. We\'re involved in clinical research and share our experiences worldwide. We support dozens of former patients and bereaved families who are coming to terms with what has happened. But we could do even more. Join us, and help us be there for everyone.
What are we looking for?
We\'re looking for someone who shares our Values and is committed to our cause, but we\'re also looking for people who have expertise in one or more of the following areas:
* Company Secretary or similar knowledge and expertise
* HR including equality, diversity and inclusion
* Planning, construction, health and safety and facilities management
* Fundraising
* Helicopter aviation
* Health policy and systems
What will you be doing?
At Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, we are looking for Trustees and a Company Secretary who know how excellent Boards work and how to help wonderful organisations become even better. We need people who can understand complex information, and can ask key questions in a way that is as supportive as it is challenging. Most importantly, we want people who share our Values – we pride ourselves on being Collaborative, Dedicated, Curious and Compassionate.
We don\'t ask for a big time commitment as we have a professional management team who take full responsibility for the week-to-week running of the charity, but we do need someone who has the time and space to carry out their role well. The average might be ~1 hour a week, but this can be variable and you will need to be able to make time in the working day occasionally, with good notice.
We try to meet in person, as collaboration is better that way, and you will need to get out and about from time to time to meet key stakeholders or attend events. Due to this, and the need to understand our communities and help us reach more people, you will need to be local – we cover Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire, Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset and parts of Wiltshire.
Location and time commitment
Local to the regions we serve with availability for occasional daytime meetings and stakeholder engagement.
