An excellent opportunity has arisen for a confident, compassionate, and clinically credible nurse to join our dedicated team. We are seeking a Band 6 Paediatric nurse with significant experience at Band 5 within Paediatric Oncology/Haematology.
The unit is the regional centre for Paediatric Oncology and Haematology for the North West, comprising a 32-bed inpatient ward, dedicated outpatient and day case facilities, and a 15-bed Bone Marrow Transplant/Gene Therapy and Stem Cell unit.
Ward 86 cares for children with life-threatening illnesses from diagnosis, treatment, and supportive care, working with non-malignant haematology colleagues. This is a 24/7 service.
BMTU/Ward 79 focuses on research and innovation, providing first-in-the-world treatments, gene therapy, stem cell therapy, and transplants. This is also a 24/7 service.
Job description
Support the ward manager in education, training, and development strategies. Contribute to care standards and workforce development. Participate in audits, research, teaching, and practice changes. Ensure workforce competencies and safety standards are maintained. Lead staff appraisals, revalidation, mandatory training, and professional development initiatives. Act as an experienced preceptor, competent in IV chemotherapy administration, demonstrating leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills. Committed to quality improvement and patient experience, providing clinical leadership aligned with the Trust's core values.
