We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity within our Family Health Care Group for a Deputy Service Manager – Child Health, based at our York site.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive, and well-organised individual with strong problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will provide key administrative and operational support, working closely alongside admin and clinical teams to help deliver a consistently high-quality service for our patients and their families.
This role presents an excellent opportunity for career development, as well as valuable insight into how a busy clinical department operates. We are looking for someone who is passionate about building strong working relationships and driving continuous improvements in patient care.
The post is primarily based at York Hospital; however, there may be occasional requirements to work across other Trust sites.

Main duties of the job
1. Payroll administration duties including erostering and processing payroll forms.
2. Recruitment administrative duties.
3. Process purchasing requests using NHS Supply Chain, Oracle and Pecos.
4. Room Bookings
5. Arranging staff travel
6. Diary management as required
7. Management of band 2 Ward Clerks
8. General administration duties as required for the department.
9. Deputise for the Service Manager/Administration manager where necessary.
10. Minute taking as required

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
19. Minimum 4 GCSEs (Maths and English) Grade A-C or equivalent qualification/demonstrable experience.
20. Typing skills/qualifications such as RSA/NVQ 3 or equivalent demonstrable experience.
Knowlege and Skills
Essential criteria
21. Previous administration experience
22. Experience of working in a customer focused environment.
23. Experience of supervising staff.
24. Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Desirable criteria
25. ECDL.
26. Experience of dealing with confidential information.
27. Previous NHS experience and knowledge of CPD.
28. Previous experience of dealing with sensitive or complex situations.
