Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (for SEN pupils)

We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant (for SEN pupils) to work with teachers to support teaching and learning, providing general and specific assistance to pupils and staff under the direction, guidance and direct supervision of the classroom teacher. Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area.

Key responsibilities:

1. Work with either individuals or small groups of pupils in or outside the classroom ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
2. Supervise and provide particular support for pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
3. Assist with the implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour plans and Personal Care programs under the supervision and guidance of teaching staff
4. Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs

Pay range: SCP5-7 - £19,764.35 - £20,397.85 - FTE £25,583-£26403 - 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.

Qualifications and Skills:

5. TA2 Qualification or equivalent
6. Maths & English GCSE Grades A-C (or equivalent)
7. Relevant experience in a similar role
8. Ability to model acceptable behaviours and encourage good social skills
9. Ability to extend children’s thinking skills
