SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist Academic & Therapeutic Provision
We are looking for a caring and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a unique and supportive provision for students aged 5–16 who have experienced challenges in mainstream education.
This setting combines academic learning with therapeutic support in a creative, nurturing environment, helping students to re-engage with education, build confidence, and achieve their potential.
The Role:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH) and additional learning needs.
Assist in delivering tailored lessons and therapeutic activities that promote engagement, wellbeing, and progress.
Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support emotional regulation, resilience, and personal growth.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to provide holistic support.
Encourage students to develop independence and celebrate achievements, both big and small.The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience supporting young people with SEN/SEMH, ideally in a school or alternative provision.
A compassionate, patient, and creative approach.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Resilience and adaptability to meet the needs of students who may display challenging behaviour.
