Overview
As Sales Manager for Used Vehicles, you will take ownership of driving performance across all areas of the department. You’ll be responsible for developing and delivering sales plans and budgets, covering used vehicle stock, accessories, overheads, and overall profitability to meet key marketing, sales, and financial targets.
Leading from the front, you will organise, motivate, and guide the Sales team and administrative support to achieve agreed objectives, ensuring the most effective use of people, resources, and investment.
You’ll also play a key role in shaping and improving operational and administrative processes, helping to ensure the business runs efficiently, consistently, and delivers results on time.
As Sales Manager for Used Vehicles, you’ll lead the department to deliver strong commercial performance and exceptional customer outcomes. Your key responsibilities will include:
Responsibilities
* Developing accurate sales forecasts, identifying opportunities, and driving performance against targets
* Creating and managing operating expenses and capital budgets, working closely with the Head of Business
* Leading, organising, and coordinating the Sales team to maximise productivity and conversion
* Taking ownership of used vehicle sales performance, ensuring targets are achieved in line with business plans
* Managing used car valuations and purchasing decisions to maintain a profitable and competitive stock profile
* Driving maximum profitability per unit, including the sale of accessories in line with company policy
* Designing and implementing effective commission structures to motivate and reward the Sales team
* Establishing and maintaining efficient administrative systems and processes across sales operations
* Ensuring full compliance with company standards and all relevant regulatory requirements
* Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the department, including deputising arrangements when required
Qualifications
* Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a high-performing Sales team
* Proven experience in sales planning, forecasting, and budget management
* A commercial mindset, with a focus on driving profitability and achieving targets
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
* A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to interpret policies and implement improvements
* Experience in training and developing others, particularly in areas such as prospecting, closing sales, and customer follow-up
* A solid understanding of compliance processes and the importance of following regulatory standards
* Confidence in making key people decisions, including recruitment, performance management, and development
