The Role
This is a hybrid role combining on-site surveying and technical work with home-based reporting and coordination. The successful candidate will inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and support solar PV systems installed on schools throughout the UK.
There is an expectation to work away on site across the country 23 days per week. This role is customer-facing and requires confidence when dealing with school site managers, business managers, trustees, and other stakeholders while on site.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out initial site surveys, pre-installation visits, and commissioning visits
* Conduct regular system inspections and testing
* Complete diagnostic and repair visits
* Perform fault finding and identify technical issues on solar PV systems
* Repair or replace meters, communications equipment, inverters, cables, and damaged components
* Submit clear and accurate site reports within 24 hours
* Work with monitoring and asset management teams to diagnose faults and implement solutions
* Maintain accurate records within internal asset management systems
* Assist with engineering design reviews, planning applications, grid applications, and related technical support
* Represent the company professionally on school sites and contribute to or chair meetings where required
Essential Requirements
* Proven background in electrical installation, maintenance, or engineering
* Experience carrying out surveys, inspections, or site-based technical assessments
* Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
* Confident customer-facing communication skills
* Good computer literacy and reporting skills
* Strong health and safety awareness
* Full UK driving xsngvjr licence
* Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check
Desirable
* Solar PV experience
* C&G 2391 (Inspection & Testing)
* Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification
* 18th Edition (BS 7671)
* Experience in commercial or education environments
