Senior Mental Health Practitioner, Band 7 – North Bedfordshire CAMHS Adolescent Mental Health Team. 37.5 hours per week. Fixed Term for 6 months.
We are currently seeking a senior mental health practitioner for a fixed term 6 month position in our CAMHS Adolescent Mental Health Team (AMHT).
Location: Bedfordshire (North Beds CAMHS, 9 Rush Court, Bedford, MK40 3JT). The North Bedfordshire CAMHS AMHT is a multi-disciplinary team providing a high quality service to children and their families with significant risks and complex mental health/behavioural needs. The team combines flexible clinic-based and outreach interventions with a focus on engagement and multi-agency collaboration.
Job Responsibilities
* Undertake a varied role including therapeutic intervention in line with professional background and training
* Caseload management and care coordination
* Participate in multi-agency collaboration and maintain therapeutic engagement with young people and families
* Work with a minimum of two practitioners on cases due to complex needs
* Balance clinic-based and outreach work; travel to facilitate outreach support at home or other CAMHS/multi-agency sites
* Receive regular clinical and management supervision and access CPD sessions
* Engage in weekly clinical discussions within the team
* Support staff well-being and flexible working patterns (team debriefs, well-being activities, shared meals)

Person Specification
Education / Qualification / Training – Essential
* Professional qualification in a CAMHS-relevant discipline (e.g., Clinical Psychology, Psychiatry, Nursing, Social Work, Counselling, Family Therapy, etc.) with registration where applicable
* Post-graduate qualification in CAMHS or equivalent
Experience – Essential
* At least 18 months in CAMHS or equivalent setting; experience in community mental health
* Experience working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency environment
* Supervising junior staff; managing and coordinating care
* Experience with high-risk adolescents and liaising with multi-agency teams
Desirable
* Experience with CBT
* Specialist CAMHS experience (e.g., YOT, Eating Disorders, substance misuse)
* Computer skills; experience establishing and running groups
Skills & Knowledge – Essential
* Strong CAMHS clinical skills: mental health assessments and therapies
* Advanced therapeutic approaches and ability to work with distressed young people
* Ability to work effectively in a multi-agency setting and maintain CAMHS identity
* Ability to participate in multi-agency training
Knowledge – Essential / Desirable
* Knowledge of multi-agency barriers/resources, systemic family work, CBT and group work, MH Act and child protection procedures
* Aware of staff supervision best practice; knowledge of outcome measures; awareness of national CAMHS guidelines and the Children Act
