Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for three substantive Consultant positions and a one‑year fixed‑term Consultant post (June 2026 – June 2027) covering Diabetes and Endocrinology at the University Hospitals Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB). Join a nationally and internationally recognised team of consultants, diabetes nurse specialists, diabetes specialist dietitians and endocrine nurse specialists who are friendly, supportive, innovative, dynamic, and committed to delivering high‑quality care across the board. There are opportunities to develop research, teaching and educational supervision interests and to contribute to service development within subspecialty areas.
Responsibilities
* Delivery of high quality, evidence‑based care and treatment for patients with diabetes and endocrine conditions across UHDB, in collaboration with the communities of Derbyshire and Staffordshire.
* Support inpatient wards in providing care to inpatients with diabetes/endocrinology and general medicine problems.
* Mentor, train and provide clinical supervision for doctors in training and medical students.
* Review practice in line with local, national and international guidance, develop and implement local policies, and participate in clinical governance.
* Supervise, train and manage junior medical staff, conduct teaching, examination and accreditation duties, and contribute to postgraduate and continuing medical education activities locally, regionally and nationally.
* Provide an out‑of‑hours service with Consultant colleagues, including on‑call rota commitments as outlined in the job plan.
