Group Financial Controller
Location: Witham, Essex – office-based role
Salary: £75,000 – 80,000 per annum
I'm excited to be working with an established manufacturing business based in Witham. They are looking for an experienced Group Financial Controller to join their senior management team.
This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong team focus. Offering broad exposure across financial control, operational finance, reporting, cash flow management, and business partnering.
Reporting directly to the Group Finance Director, you’ll ideally have experience within a manufacturing, engineering, or stock-led environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting financial performance, strengthening controls, and driving continuous improvement across the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee day-to-day finance operations including sales ledger, purchase ledger, general ledger, and banking activities
* Lead monthly management accounts preparation, reconciliations, and financial analysis
* Manage cash flow forecasting and support working capital optimisation
* Oversee payroll, pensions, and employee benefits processes
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards, VAT regulations, and internal controls
* Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
* Partner with operational and commercial teams to provide financial insight and performance analysis
* Support procurement and stock-related financial processes
* Drive process improvement across finance systems, controls, and reporting
* Prepare information for audit and ensure accurate financial record keeping
* Attend operational meetings and provide financial support to senior stakeholders
* Lead, mentor and develop a small finance team.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be an experienced finance professional with strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to operate effectively within a growing operational business.
You will demonstrate:
* Professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
* Previous experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role
* Strong management accounting and financial control experience
* Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
* Strong Excel and reporting capability
* Ability to work collaboratively across finance, operations, and commercial teams
* A proactive, hands-on, and solutions-focused approach
