Our Team Leaders play a critical role in helping deliver justice. This role will enable you to demonstrate and develop your leadership skills. You will be responsible for making sure your team deliver excellent administrative support to recover criminal fines and financial penalties imposed by the Courts.
About us — Criminal Fines Collection and Enforcement (Enforcement) is a key function within HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS). Enforcement works with the criminal courts in England and Wales to ensure convicted parties comply with fines and other financial penalties. The department also handles compliance with Confiscation Orders and the payment of Fixed Penalty tickets issued by police forces.

Your role
* Lead your team to focus on their area of work, ensuring priorities are clear, work is organised, and team members are skilled to meet objectives.
* Motivate your team, promote wellbeing, and support achievement.
* Contribute to the delivery of operational, performance and service standard targets and provide statistical data for the management team.
* Monitor and analyse performance, review procedures and work practices, and recommend improvements.
* Navigate change and manage the implementation of new initiatives and legislation.
Working arrangements and development
This is a challenging and rewarding role, key to the smooth running of operational functions. We offer leadership development through the HMCTS leadership programme, including development programmes and bite-size guides to help build leadership capability.
Standard full-time hours are 37 per week. HMCTS welcomes part-time, flexible and job-sharing patterns where feasible and agreed prior to appointment. Non-contractual hybrid working may be available, but arrangements depend on ability to deliver services from home.
Occasional travel to other courts and flexibility to work at other local HMCTS offices may be required.
Eligibility, security and nationality
Security: Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check. People working with government assets must complete baseline personnel security standard checks.
Nationality requirements: This job is broadly open to UK nationals, Irish nationals, Commonwealth citizens with right to work in the UK, EU/EEA/Swiss nationals and their family members with settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme, and other categories as specified by the Civil Service rules. Immigration and sponsorship
From 22 July 2025, the Government increased the salary threshold and skills level for Skilled Worker visas. This role does not meet current eligibility criteria for sponsorship for new Skilled Worker visa applicants. If you have held a Skilled Worker visa continuously since before 22 July 2025, eligibility will be assessed during vetting checks in line with transitional provisions. All applicants must have the legal right to live and work in the Civil Service and in the United Kingdom.
Qualifications and experience
* Ability to motivate and support your team to deliver excellent customer service and achieve effective performance.
* Experience of working in an administrative role in a customer-focused environment.
* IT proficiency and the ability to learn and adapt to different technologies and software packages.
* Excellent communication, organisational and prioritisation skills.
* A strong ability to prioritise workloads and adapt to changing priorities.
