The role
As a Senior Naval Architect, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This pivotal role blends technical leadership with team development, driving the delivery of complex naval architecture solutions across both in-service and future submarine platforms.
Day-to-day, you’ll drive technical direction, mentor a skilled team, and support the advancement of the UK submarine fleet. This is a unique opportunity to influence mission-critical capability in a dynamic, forward-thinking environment.
Responsibilities
* Lead and assure the technical quality of mooring and towing analysis outputs.
* Build and maintain a high-performing team of suitably qualified and experienced personnel (SQEP).
* Design and deliver targeted training to strengthen team capability.
* Provide expert input to projects and support strategic decision-making.
* Champion innovation and best practice in analysis methods and engineering tools.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience
* Effective leader and communicator with strong organisational skills.
* Proven track record in managing complex technical tasks and delivering high-quality outcomes.
* Analytical, proactive, and committed to continuous professional growth.
* Skilled in dynamic modelling and analysis using Orcaflex or ANSYS AQWA.
* Proficient in engineering tools including ANSYS, Excel, MathCAD, MATLAB, Rhino, and AutoCAD/Inventor.
Qualifications
* Degree (BSc, BEng, MSc, or MEng) in Naval Architecture, Marine Technology, Ship Science, or a related STEM discipline.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information NNPPI security clearance for this role.
