Do you want to make a lasting positive change to the environment? As a Technical author in the UK BAT team you can.
Large Volume Inorganic Chemicals (LVIC) installations are required to use ‘Best Available Techniques’ (BAT) to reduce emissions to air, water and land. You will aid in defining and publishing UK-wide environmental standards for the LVIC industry.
Responsibilities
* Draft BAT conclusions and other technical documents.
* Liaise with Technical Working Groups and present final documents for publication.
* Collaborate with UK BAT Author and other stakeholders.
* Provide technical input on environmental legislation and policy in the UK.
* Analyze technical arguments and data critically.
* Manage projects and meet delivery targets.
* Participate in travel and overnight stays as required.
Qualifications
* Specialist knowledge of the LVIC industry.
* Good understanding of process engineering and environmental issues.
* Knowledge of environmental legislation and policy (UK, EU).
* Ability to critically analyse technical arguments and data.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Good project management skills.
Experience & Skills Required
* At least 5 years working experience in the LVIC industry and environmental regulation.
* Experience with UK and EU industrial environmental legislation, e.g., IED and Environmental Permitting Regulations.
* Collect and analyse complex industrial data.
* Understand implications of BAT conclusions in permits, on industry and environment.
* Verbal and written communication; building and maintaining relationships.
* Planning, prioritisation and organising tasks to meet deadlines.
* Responsive to challenges and able to build consensus.
* Ability to work with diverse backgrounds and encourage diversity in work.
