Cheshire East Council’s Finance Team has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to come and join our team as an Accountancy Assistant.
Our Finance Team provides financial support and advice to directors, heads of service, budget holders, elected Members, and stakeholders across the full range of services delivered by Cheshire East Council and our wholly owned companies.
As an Accountancy Assistant, you will undertake routine financial tasks in support of specified service or corporate activities to facilitate efficient financial management and administration.
This includes activities such as preparing budget estimates, maintaining computerised accounting records, and undertaking detailed financial analysis to investigate budget variances under the direction of senior staff.
The Council, like many other local authorities, is facing unprecedented challenges in terms of increasing demand for services and rising costs. A Council-wide transformation programme is planned to enable us to deliver the proposals we set out in our Medium-Term Financial Strategy, and to help us become stronger and more flexible, so we can deliver our vital services better and continue to support those who need it most. Accountancy Assistants will play a key role in supporting Finance Business Partners and service managers to deliver financially sustainable services through the provision of financial advice and support.
Cheshire East Council has a proven track record of delivering on its financial policies and strategies, with a comprehensive Medium Term Financial Strategy updated and approved each year, and statutory Statement of Accounts completed annually in accordance with national deadlines.
