Overview
I’m a father of a 9-year-old girl with Arthrogryposis. Her mind is perfectly healthy; disabilities restrict movement in her arms and legs, although with the correct exercises she can gain more movement. I’m looking for a personal assistant to help with her exercises, physiotherapy, and personal and social tasks.
Hours, duties and pay
* 5 hours per week: Monday 3.30–5pm; Wednesday 3.30–5pm; Friday 1pm–3pm
* Once a month (last Friday) 4 hours taking my daughter to the shopping centre, having lunch and potentially cinema. Transport will be provided there and back
* Rate of pay: £13.83 per hour
Location and transport
I’m able to pick up and drop off at Bathgate train station or local bus stop for candidates that can’t drive. Driver – desirable but not essential.
Responsibilities
* Helping with exercises and physiotherapy, performing the 7 physio routine exercises
* Training will be provided by St John’s Physiotherapist
Person specification
* Experience of working with children and a little knowledge of wellbeing and fitness
* Compassionate, friendly, calm and patient with a good sense of humour
* Driver – desirable but not essential
* Qualifications not essential
* PVG disclosure required (employer will cover the cost)
