Overview
Under general supervision, to perform work supporting the primary care provider and team by providing patient care, assisting with procedures, patient follow-up, and maintaining patient flow. Interacts with internal departments, businesses, insurance companies, and billing services.
Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions):
1. Assist in urgent and emergent medical situations, operate emergency equipment.
2. Assist provider with patient follow-up processes, including referrals, labs, and patient education materials.
3. Manage patient flow to ensure efficient use of rooms and minimize wait times.
4. Clean, prepare, and stock patient exam areas and workstations.
5. Maintain ambulatory equipment, instruments, and supplies; assist in cleaning and sterilization; maintain inventory of medical supplies.
6. Document patient care information in the medical record following policies and procedures.
7. Obtain vital signs, identify reason for visit, and prepare patients for examination.
8. Perform basic testing procedures (e.g., EKG, urine dipstick, pregnancy tests) and administer injections as ordered by the physician.
9. Prepare and support patients and assist providers with medical procedures.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:
* High School Diploma/GED required.
Experience:
* Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience required.
License/Certification:
* Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through a recognized association required within 60 days of hire (unless hired before 12/31/19).
* BLS Certification required.
