The Senior Electronic Engineer will be part of a team providing services in support of analogue, digital (FPGA), and computer-based safety systems. The team covers a broad scope from requirements to design and maintenance of systems and products, emphasizing robust classical analysis and modelling of analogue instrumentation front-ends.
Location: Wimborne, UK
Your Responsibilities
1. Carry out all work ethically, safely, and according to industry standards and best practices within the nuclear sector.
2. Provide technical leadership within your area of expertise for the team and the company.
3. Develop customer solutions and support discussions with customer representatives to agree on optimal outcomes regarding cost, timescale, and implementation.
4. Peer review technical reports, drawings, and designs for safety, functionality, and compliance.
5. Analyze existing systems to determine requirements for replacement or refurbishment.
6. Support project managers and team leaders with technical expertise.
7. Coordinate with suppliers regarding third-party equipment supply and support.
8. Occasionally assist with installation and commissioning at customer sites.
9. Enhance personal engineering skills in safety systems and instrumentation.
10. Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and modernization.
Your Qualifications
1. Degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent industry experience in electronics design, including schematic design, PCB layout, and mixed-mode simulation (e.g., Altium).
2. Strong understanding of analogue electronics design, including noise, frequency response, cabling, and temperature effects, with practical experience in analysis and modelling.
3. Knowledge of major digital electronics families and device categories.
4. Experience in systems engineering of complete electronic systems, including integration, thermal, and reliability considerations.
5. Proficiency with modern instrumentation such as digital oscilloscopes and programmable instruments.
6. Experience managing team workloads.
7. Familiarity with systems engineering tools like DOORS is advantageous.
8. Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
