The Role
As a Psychology SEN TA, you will work closely with students who require additional support due to needs such as:
1. Autism (ASC)
2. ADHD
3. Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs
4. Learning difficulties
5. Communication and sensory needs
Your role will involve:
6. Providing 1:1 and small-group support
7. Helping pupils develop emotional regulation and social skills
8. Supporting the class teacher with tailored strategies based on individual needs
9. Observing behaviour patterns and helping adapt support plans
10. Using positive behaviour approaches and de-escalation techniques
11. Building trusting relationships that encourage confidence and engagement
This role is ideal for anyone looking to progress into Educational Psychology, Counselling, CAMHS roles, or specialist SEND pathways.
What We’re Looking For
12. A Psychology degree or strong background in child development
13. A calm, empathetic and reflective approach
14. An interest in behaviour, mental health and SEND
15. Confidence working with children or young people
16. Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence
17. Willingness to learn new strategies and collaborate with staff
18. A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Transferable experience from youth work, care, mentoring or community support is also highly valued.
