The main purpose of the role is to work aspart of the practice team in providing administrative support to clinicians invarying and important aspects of patient care. This is a fast-moving, excitingand emerging role with priorities changing constantly. GP Assistants are a newrole within the NHS categorised. The responsibility for the role will bedirected towards the patients and services within The Park Surgery.
The Park Surgery is part of the YorkshireCoast and Wolds PCN. PCNs are required organisational bodies across the NHS inEngland.
Main duties of the job
To provide Administrative support to clinicians and the admin team.
To manage the workflow and ensure KPI's are achieved within the team.
Coach and develop the team to reach high standards in both patient and internal care.

Job responsibilities
To act as Team Leader for the administration teamwhich includes care coordinators and administrators. Ensuring that the teamsmeet their responsibilities and KPIs; assisting the Practice Manager inchecking holiday cover and monitoring sickness.
Monitor work within the admin department is carriedout ensuring the KPIs are adhered to such as referrals, document management,private letters etc. and provide direction and guidance to the team wherenecessary.
Monitor problems and provide solutions with guidancefrom the Practice Manager.
To review processes to ensure that the mostappropriate methods are carried out, adopting quality improvements wherenecessary.
To assist clinicians in the administrative tasksrequired for clinical care. Tofacilitate the admin process of gathering information from different servicesas required. Completing and submitting documents on behalf of the GP and otherclinicians
To be a point of contact for fellow healthprofessionals including nursing and residential homes, social services, ambulance, hospitals, CMHT, key workers and community services.
Communicate with patients via telephone, textmessaging and letters.
To be apoint of contact in the event of patient death. Liaising with the family,funeral directors and coroner,if required. To ensure paperworkis processed in a timelymanner and families aresupported through the process
To produce referralsfor patients as appropriate.
Assist in the completion and submission of safeguarding paperwork
To administer fit notes where clinically appropriate
Checking blood pressureresults submitted by patients, calculating averages and assessing against clinical guidelinesalerting clinicians where readings are out of tolerance
Support clinicians in requesting laboratory tests tomonitor ongoing conditions and medications
Action patient tasks and ensure prompt turnaround asper surgery protocol
Chase up hospital appointments, results and otherqueries as required by clinicians
Monitor and respond to Accurx enquiries, referring onto appropriate department or dealing with queries.
Deal with emails which arrive in the Practicegeneric email inboxes, either resolving them or directing them to appropriateinternal persons
To undertake any other reasonable work when requestedto do so by clinicians and the Practice Manager
To run monthly reports that capture patients onspecific medication which requires monitoring of bloods or other measures
Facilitate the flow of work from the Practice Manager/ clinicians to the care-coordinators and monitoring performance eg QOF and CQCquality standards work.
Ensure that patient recalls are being carried outmonthly.
To participate in vaccination planning such asseasonal flu, covid and childrens immunisations.
Communicate effectively with other team members suchas reception supervisor and dispensary manager.
Create standard operating procedures for workflowwithin the departments.
Ensure that staff members are trained in accordancewith the SOPs and working to a standard expected for the practice.
Carry out 1-2-1s with the team and feedbackperformance issues to the Practice Manager.
Any other tasks as deemed necessary for the role.
Person Specification
Experience
* The successful candidate will be adaptable, quick thinking with high level of attention to detail. They will be happy to deal with challenging situations and feel confident to make decisions within set parameters.
* An excellent understanding of safeguarding is required
* Experience working in a GP Practice
Qualifications
* GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths
