It thus contributes to the design and construction of transport infrastructure (bridges, tunnels, roads), buildings, and industrial & energy-producing structures, and it maintains, repairs and upgrades all structural systems that guarantee performance, safety and durability. We are looking for a Junior Plant Engineer to join our team on a major construction site. This role offers hands-on experience with heavy machinery and equipment management, requiring an organized, self-driven individual eager to learn and grow within the construction industry. Site-based Duties: Permanently based on-site, supports the plant team of technicians on site with the preparation and documentation of both corrective and preventive maintenance tasks. Assists project teams with equipment needs, including procurement of spare parts and arranging technical support. Records and tracks equipment performance, maintenance schedules, and repair logs. Supports inventory management of spare parts and materials for equipment maintenance. Plant Department Development: Supports the implementation and use of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Trains site teams on new digital tools, such as digital forms for daily equipment checks. Maintains and enhances the technical library, ensuring documentation, technical queries with OEMs, and drawings are up to date and stored on VSL’s server. Acts as a liaison between OEMs and VSL’s Digital team to support the group’s digitalization initiatives. Coordinates with IT to communicate the Plant team’s needs for automated reporting and data analysis. Documents existing processes to support effective communication and ongoing improvement. Your Profile Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (other relevant disciplines may be considered) Basic knowledge of heavy machinery and construction equipment Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Effective team player with strong communication abilities Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
