Design considerations include the variety of sites, many utilizing existing buildings, each with unique challenges. The team also explores new materials, focusing on sustainability and value, while navigating evolving building and environmental legislation.

Role Overview
Reporting to the Technical Director, you will manage the design process and oversee all planning and architectural aspects from land acquisition to site completion.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide practical, cost-effective design solutions for the company.
2. Manage in-house and external designers, ensuring best practices, controlling costs, and maximizing revenue and contribution to profit.
3. Ensure layouts comply with planning policies, technical constraints, and plotting requirements, while maximizing value.
4. Ensure departmental compliance with standard house types and plotting procedures.
5. Develop technical design solutions within budget.
6. Evaluate sites, oversee planning and design, and resolve technical issues economically.
7. Adhere to departmental procedures, delivering layouts, reports, and drawings on schedule.
8. Manage Group Policies and Procedures.
9. Coordinate with other departments, providing accurate technical information.
10. Liaise with regulatory bodies like NHBC and planning authorities to meet standards.
11. Build relationships with architects, critique and challenge their layouts to ensure optimal design and value.
12. Negotiate and secure planning consents on time.
13. Stay informed about house type ranges and plotting methods with the Group Design & Technical Team.
Candidate Profile
We seek a motivated team leader with resilience and a drive to achieve business goals. Essential qualities include excellent communication, high attention to detail, and experience within established development processes.
Ideal candidates will have significant experience in a similar role or as a Planner, Architectural Technician, or Design Engineer, with knowledge of technical functions impacting site acquisition and development.
Qualifications should include HNC level or equivalent in Engineering, Architecture, or Planning, RICS or RIBA accreditation, or NVQ Level 5. Ability to work under pressure, exceed customer expectations, and proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit are required.
