Your Role as a 1:1 Support Assistant In this rewarding role, you will be the dedicated 1:1 Support Assistant to a Year 5 child with Autism, providing personalised academic and emotional support throughout the school day. Daily Responsibilities ✔️ One-to-one academic support across subjects including maths, literacy, and topic-based learning. ✔️ Support emotional regulation through sensory strategies, routine reinforcement, and Zones of Regulation. ✔️ Facilitate social interaction-turn-taking, structured play, and classroom integration. ✔️ Collaborate with SENCOs, therapists, and SENDHelp to implement tailored strategies based on EHCP goals. ✔️ Monitor behaviour and learning outcomes, record observations, and contribute to TAC meetings. ✔️ Assist with personal care where needed, always preserving the pupil's dignity and comfort. ✔️ Encourage independence and celebrate progress, however small. Experience We're Looking For Experience working with children with Autism, ideally in a mainstream or primary school setting. Familiarity with structured teaching, visual timetables, sensory circuits, and emotional regulation tools. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach with a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND. Confidence in working closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
