Role Overview
We are seeking a Skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. You will take responsibility for the installation, pipefitting, and commissioning of air-conditioning systems and associated mechanical services on complex projects such as data-centre cooling plants and large commercial buildings.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, pipefit, and commission VRV/VRF, split, and close-control air-conditioning systems.
* Carry out copper pipework fabrication, brazing, pressure testing, and leak detection in line with F-Gas and industry standards.
* Commission systems, including refrigerant charging, control setup, and performance testing.
* Interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and specifications to deliver installations to design intent.
* Work collaboratively with electrical teams, project managers, and clients to ensure safe and timely completion.
* Complete all relevant documentation: commissioning sheets, F-Gas logs, and handover reports.
* Maintain tools, equipment, and a tidy working environment, following UNG's health & safety and quality procedures.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in mechanical services installation, pipefitting, and commissioning of commercial air-conditioning systems.
* Strong knowledge of VRV/VRF, split systems, and data-centre cooling applications.
* F-Gas Category 1 qualification (essential).
* NVQ Level 2/3 in Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning or equivalent (preferred).
* Competent in brazing, pressure testing, and refrigerant handling.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
