Job description
Job responsibilities
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provide Health Care Assistant services to the practice population.
* Deliver care within the boundaries of role and in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, supported by nursing teams.
* Ensure the care delivered is safe, evidence-based, and cost-effective, including health checks, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight, BMI, and blood sugar levels.
* Involve in taking and preparing pathology samples (venepuncture, INR, urinalysis).
* Undertake ECGs.
* Support health promotion and self-care strategies.
* Provide holistic care and develop ongoing care/support plans.
* Administer B12, influenza, pneumonia, and shingles vaccines under Patient Specific Directives.
* Manage chronic diseases following practice protocols.
* Provide basic wound care and remove stitches/clips.
* Prioritize and intervene in emergency situations.
* Recognize at-risk patients for safeguarding concerns.
* Maintain infection control policies.
* Ensure stock levels are adequate and participate in audits.
Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential):
* NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
* GCSE grades A-C in English and Math
* Previous healthcare assistant experience
Qualifications (Desirable):
* Experience as a healthcare assistant
