The role
As part of our Marine business, you’ll contribute directly to one of the UK’s most significant and high‑profile engineering programmes: the Type 31 / Inspiration‑class frigates. This is your opportunity to join a team shaping the future of naval capability while developing specialist skills that will take your career further.
As a Welder, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high‑quality welded components that support the full production lifecycle of the Type 31 units—from piece‑part creation through to panel manufacture and ship build. Your work will directly contribute to the safety, capability and reliability of vessels that protect national security.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
1. Operate welding processes including GSFCAW, SAW and Arc Air Gouging to produce high‑quality welded components.
2. Carry out grinding, burning and basic visual inspection to ensure work meets contract acceptance standards.
3. Follow welding procedures (WPS) and maintain compliance throughout all tasks.
4. Set up, operate and maintain welding equipment to required specifications.
5. Perform daily checks and report any equipment issues promptly.
This is a full‑time, permanent position, working 36 hours per week on site at Rosyth.
Essential experience of the Welder:
6. Ability to interpret and adhere to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
7. Strong understanding of weld defects and their causes.
8. Experience setting up welding equipment safely and effectively.
9. Basic knowledge of welding inspection techniques.
10. Experience maintaining welding plant functionality.
Qualifications for the Welder:
11. SVQ / NVQ Level 3 in Welding (or equivalent)

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
