Job summary
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Band 5 Radiographer to join our team for a 9-month maternity cover.
Lincoln Radiotherapy Department features three Varian Truebeam linear accelerators, a CT scanner, and a brachytherapy theatre. We are leaders in surface guided radiotherapy (SGRT) and among the first departments in the country to adopt tattoo-less techniques. Our department is regional leader in prostate brachytherapy, offering high dose rate (HDR) and low dose rate (LDR) radioactive seed implantation, as well as brachytherapy for gynaecological cancers.
Our team includes specialist radiographers supporting patients through their treatment, radiographer-led review clinics, a late effects service, and Macmillan specialist support. We have a Head and Neck Specialist Radiographer and are expanding our site-specific specialist team. Additionally, a Consultant Radiographer and trainee ACP support palliative radiotherapy pathways.
We pride ourselves on being a friendly department with low staff turnover, committed to high-quality training for current and future staff. We have dedicated Practice Educators for staff, apprentices, and students, and participate in national and international clinical trials overseen by our Radiotherapy Research Facilitation Radiographer.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate will hold a BSc (Hons) in Radiotherapy and Oncology, be HCPC registered, and have experience as a Band 5 or be ready to gain this experience in their first post. Good organizational skills, the ability to develop collaborative relationships, effective communication skills, and resilience under pressure are essential.

The post involves assisting in delivering a high-quality radiotherapy service, working across treatment units (linear accelerators) and pre-treatment areas (CT simulator & palliative virtual simulation) on a rotational basis.
The position is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 7:30 am and 7:30 pm. Flexibility, including working shifts, is required, along with a commitment to work at least 2 bank holidays per year and participate in weekend on-call duties.
