Programme / Business Manager

Main duties of the job

* Work with key operational and backbone stakeholders across the organisation and beyond, to drive the delivery of allocated work, prioritise and manage associated programmes of work.
* Work with partners across the RDaSH footprint, including VCFS, people living locally and with lived experience.
* Maintain an open approach to identify, communicate and support the scoping of potential opportunities, including business growth, innovation and improvement aligned to the Strategy.
* Lead on delegated programmes of work from initiation through planning and delivery, to evaluation and identified learning.
* Maintain focus on enhancing and further developing a positive reputation for innovation and improvement, reinforcing RDaSH as a strong, reliable and quality‑driven provider of NHS services.


Qualifications

* Educated to degree level in an appropriate area of transferable relevance (or can demonstrate equivalent experience).
* Relevant professional qualification (or can demonstrate equivalent experience) in the portfolio area, e.g. Prince2, MSP, QSIA.
* Evidence of continued professional development.


Experience

* Programme or business management experience, with a reputation for successful delivery and positive credibility.
* Demonstrable experience of leading change programmes using best practice methodologies.
* Experience of working with clinicians from a variety of backgrounds and seniority.
* Experience of direct staff management, including day‑to‑day management, managing staff through change and employee relations and performance management.
* Demonstrable experience of working with data and information requiring excellent analytical skills, ensuring robust analysis and clear presentation to a wide audience.
* Experience of effective partnership working across organisational boundaries.
* Experience of managing within a complex NHS environment.
* Experience of working across different parts of the healthcare system.


Knowledge

* Specialist knowledge of best practice standards in strategic planning and delivery, and programme management.
* Current and broad knowledge of the NHS operating context.
* Political awareness with up‑to‑date knowledge of national and local policy guidance within priority health and care initiatives.
* Knowledge and understanding of the environment within which the Trust operates, including the complexity of stakeholder relationships.


Skills/Abilities

* Demonstrable skills as a well‑respected, competent and professional individual, able to motivate and inspire others and deliver results.
* Highly developed oral and written communication skills, with an ability to prepare written documents, presentations and proposals that are clear and easily understood.
* Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and support successful delivery of work and partnership working.
* Proven, credible and influential communication and networking skills, demonstrating the ability to influence others positively.
* Advanced IT skills across Microsoft standard and wider software packages (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
* Ability to exercise independent judgement, assimilate facts requiring analysis and inform robust decision‑making.
* Calm, methodical and timely approach to analysis, writing reports, submitting returns and analysing statistics.
* Demonstrates confidence, resilience and self‑belief under pressure.
* Self‑aware, open to constructive challenge and leads by example to foster a learning culture.
* Ability to self‑manage workload and conflicting priorities to operate effectively, reach solutions and embrace decision‑making responsibilities.
* Skill to identify and assess risks and develop plans to proactively resolve potential difficulties.
* Problem‑solving approach to support swift progress and prevent the development of issues.
* High level of work organisation with a drive for proactive performance and improvement.
* Proven ability to foster an organisational culture positive about change and committed to delivering the strategic vision.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and a submission for disclosure will be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 a year (pro rata).
