The design lead will play a vital role in delivering both electronic and physical security systems design packages. You'll collaborate closely with our BIM/CAD Technicians and the technical team throughout the process, confidently guiding cross-discipline coordination and making informed decisions as client documentation evolves. It's important to ensure that everything aligns perfectly with baseline requirements. We’re looking for someone with strong problem-solving abilities, a commitment to setting high standards, and an eye for the finer details!
Responsibilities
* Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the client, with a clear understanding of project nuances and expectations.
* Identify and resolve design issues, offering solutions and improvements.
* Approach the project, considering client requirements, installation efficiencies, and overall delivery impact.
* Produce base “spots and dots” design layouts.
* Conduct detailed ironmongery reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Coordinate with other architectural engineering teams, such as Telecoms, to gather and clarify cross‑discipline requirements.
* Proactively drive the project forward by defining information needs, timelines, and dependencies.
* Work closely with the BIM manager/lead to align on backgrounds, layouts, cable measurements, duct routing, and other model‑related details.
* Act as the primary point of contact for all security‑related queries.
* Interpret and adapt to evolving client documentation and design direction.
* Ensure local regulatory and project‑specific requirements are incorporated into the design.
* Perform design validation and drawing reviews, identifying and correcting errors or inconsistencies.
* Demonstrate strong understanding of design matrices and other key technical design components.
Requirements
* Demonstrated experience as a Security Project Engineer in a Data Centre setting.
* Familiarity with CAD is a plus, and experience with Revit would be ideal.
* Proficient in Excel and Outlook.
* Excellent technical skills and a knack for solving problems.
* You should be able to work independently and manage your time effectively.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to high standards, with careful attention to detail.
* Great communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration across teams.
