The Judicial Office (JO) reports to the Lady Chief Justice and supports the senior judiciary. The Business Support Team, which this role is part of, manages a wide range of services, including the departmental budget.
Role Summary
The main responsibility is management of the Paybill budget, which accounts for approximately 50% of the Judicial Office funding.
Responsibilities
* Maintain and update the Paybill budget data using Hyperion.
* Work closely with the People Services Team to incorporate starter and leaver information.
* Prepare monthly accounts, variance analysis and commentary to meet month‑end deadlines.
* Upload monthly forecasts and upload headcount and cashflow returns to MOJ.
* Produce quarterly disclosure returns and manual accrual returns.
* Assist with month‑end tasks such as journal entries and intercompany journals.
* Provide operational support for counter‑fraud matters.
* Support senior finance manager with ad‑hoc information requests and assurance / controls.
* Supervise the Assistant Finance Manager.
Qualifications and Skills
* Essential knowledge and experience
* Proven experience in government finance, including month‑end reporting and finance systems.
* Strong communication skills, ability to explain variance analysis and risks.
* Excellent organisation and planning skills with a track record of meeting deadlines.
* Experience working with internal teams and stakeholders in a complex environment.
* Good understanding of finance controls and assurance processes.
* Required behaviours: Communicating and Influencing, Working Together, Changing and Improving, Making Effective Decisions.
* Desirable knowledge and experience
* Self‑starter, highly motivated, capable of working independently.
* Part‑qualified or looking to study for a relevant finance qualification.
