The roleworks collaboratively with our front-of-house team, work placement volunteers and people with learning disabilities as well as the Operations team. You will embrace diversity in our community and help us further on our journey to make Gosforth Civic Theatre a place for everyone.
This role is ideal for someone looking to demonstrate their kitchen experience, cooking knowledge and leadership skills. We are looking for someone with commercial aptitude who can balance quality, sourcing the best local ingredients with cost control and waste management.
Main duties and responsibilities Managing kitchen budget and ensuring cost-effectiveness
Manage food cost controls to contribute to Food and Beverage revenue
Implement innovative strategies to improve productivity and sales
Excellent communication skills to coordinate with front-of-house staff and work placements to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction
Ordering food and supplies, maintaining health and safety protocols, managing food costs, and training and supervising kitchen staff.
Maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment according to health and safety regulations
Recruiting, training, and evaluating kitchen staff and volunteers
Preparation and cooking of meals in the kitchen
Ensuring the food served meets quality standards to ensure high-quality food preparation and presentation.
Managing kitchen staff (2 chefs) and coordinating their tasks
Developing menus and special dishes, taking into account dietary needs and customer preferences
Design and delivery of catering for events including weddings, parties and conferences.
Qualifications
Proven work experience as a Kitchen Manager or Head Chef
Excellent culinary skills and knowledge of diverse cuisines and food service techniques
Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
Ability to work as a team in a fast-paced work environment
Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations and administration requirements.
Excellent communication and leadership skills
