The role
We are working with a large, academically ambitious secondary school with a strong pastoral structure to recruit a Pastoral Mentor. This role focuses on supporting students who need additional emotional, behavioural, or social support to fully engage with school life and learning.
You’ll work closely with pastoral leaders, SEN staff, and teaching teams to provide consistent, targeted support across KS3–KS5.

Key responsibilities
6. Provide 1:1 and small group pastoral support
7. Support students with SEMH needs, behaviour, and attendance
8. Act as a trusted adult and positive role model
9. Support reintegration and targeted intervention programmes
10. Work collaboratively with pastoral, SEN, and safeguarding teams
The ideal candidate
11. Experience in pastoral care, mentoring, youth work, or similar
12. Confident supporting SEMH and behavioural needs
13. Calm, resilient, and emotionally intelligent
14. Strong communication and relationship-building skills
15. Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
