Trainee Medicines Management Assistant

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual interested in working within a hospital pharmacy setting. You will gain experience in ward-based working and the pharmacy dispensary whilst working towards a pharmacy qualification.
Applications are welcome from those who have already completed a level 2 pharmacy qualification. If you already have the required qualifications and skills then you will start the role as a band 3.
Previous pharmacy experience would be an advantage, however full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be well organised, have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, be able to adapt to changing demands, be committed to providing a high quality patient focused service and be proactive.
Core service hours are Monday to Friday 08:45 - 17:15 and you will contribute to the weekend rota (roughly 1 in 8) and bank holiday rota (roughly 1 per year).
Candidates must have GCSEs in Maths & English at grade C or above or an equivalent qualification and meet the essential criteria of the job specification.
Main duties of the job
The role of the successful candidate will include:
* Working closely with the ward-based Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists
* Supporting the safe and secure storage of medicines on the wards
* Assessing patients' own medication to check its suitability for use
* Maintaining medication supplies for inpatients on allocated wards by completing regular locker checks
* Ensuring efficient use of medicines by facilitating the safe transfer of medication around the hospital
* Dispensing inpatient and discharge prescriptions
Education
* Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent. Maths and English at C or above.
* QCF level 2 qualification in Pharmacy Services – include units relevant to post.
Experience
* Ability to work to protocols, procedures and SOPs and suggest changes
* Pharmacy experience.
* Hospital pharmacy experience.
* Competency training and experience in a specialist area of pharmacy service such as aseptics, stock management or dispensing. If not already acquired, this must be gained within one year of taking up post.
