About the Role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and proactive KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in York. This is a part-time temporary position, ideal for someone who loves supporting young learners, thrives in a creative classroom environment, and can make learning engaging and accessible for every child.
You’ll work closely with the class teacher to deliver high-quality teaching and learning support, encourage pupil progress, and contribute to a nurturing, positive learning atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the class teacher with daily classroom activities and learning objectives.
* Provide one-to-one and small group support to KS1 pupils to reinforce literacy and numeracy skills.
* Help create and maintain an inclusive, safe, and stimulating learning environment.
* Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources.
* Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
* Promote positive behaviour and support pupils’ emotional and social development.
What We’re Looking For
* Previous experience working with children in KS1 (school or nursery setting preferred).
* A warm, patient, and engaging approach with a genuine passion for helping children achieve their best.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Flexibility, reliability, and a positive attitude.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
